Baby got back...

Dancing

My honey and I had a wonderful time at a friends wedding last Friday. The best part for fun was the joyous reception - lets just say that there was lots of dancing.

Labor Day weekend - Dillard, GA

We went RV-ing courtesy of Mom and Dad Harmon, up in the N. GA mountains. We didn't rough it, we had a luxury liner with all the comforts of home. It was great to get out or Powder town and explore the mountains. Here are some highlights...

It takes a village...to build a shed

We need a place to park our snapper. We also need a place to store tools. So, we needed to build a shed.

Here’s the shed:

RH10141L

Currently we have one wall up, but, as the true visionaries we are we danced and celebrated at the completion of our 1 wall. It’s wonderful.

My favorite part about the shed – it’s red. But I have one unanswered question...does the shed come with the cheesy little horse applique shown in the picture? This totally makes the pseudo shed look like a barn.
Even if it doesn’t come with the horse sticker, I’m still excited about the our shed.

Painting again

Over the last 6 months I have missed painting, and because of a friend's upcoming new baby, I was able to force myself to put everything else to the side. I had so much fun, enjoy.

Saying good bye to a name

After 31 years I'm in my last few days with the name I was born with. Since I'm getting married in 7 days, and I'm in advertising, I'm, referring this to a new marketing/branding campaign.

Six months ago after becoming engaged I was conversing with my Mom on how Women are born with one name and leave with a different one. Not meaning to be morbid at all but it's a true statement. Change is good and it's how we renew ideas and keep things fresh, but it's good pay your respects to a good name.

3 great things about my maiden name:
• Maiden name falls in the middle of the alphabet
• Irish surname
• Are you related to Angie Harmon?

3 great things about my new married name:
• Youngblood will look lovely signed in the corner of my paintings
• Easy pronunciation (I've see what's out there)
• I share it with Bart

Farwell maiden name, you've served me well.

Widgets are important

Everyday, the first thing I do at work is turn on my computer and check my email. The second thing I do is hit my F12 key so that my widgets appear. I have 2 important widgets that I keep visible, one is my daily bible verse and the other is my daily count down to my wedding day.

Here's today's:

01.2007 Update

Just a brief post to log what's gone on since my last post. This first month of the new year is flying by!
The holidays were great but busy, this year it was wonderful spending it with my Bart. Everything is much more fun because I have him to do everything with. My favorite memory from Christmas was worshiping with him at his parent's church program. Just sitting there, snuggled together, thinking of the joyous season. Each time he squeezed his arm around me I would look at him and I knew we were so greatful.

We also welcomed new babies into our friends and family circle. Our good friends Sunny and Matthew welcomed their new daughter into the word on my Birthday and we can't wait to meet her. We've seen the pictures but I can't wait to hold her.

And Bart's brother Dan and my future sister-in-law Mindy had their first child just a few days into January. Bart's excited about being an uncle and just hate that we live so far from them. They named their little boy Mckinley.

December also marked Bart and I turning a year older, with all the celebrations in the past month I am so glad that we are getting married in April.

by the way, I sorta kinda have a wedding site at the knot website. I've put the basics on site but I havn't expouneded on many of the topics and items you can fill in. But there's a page out there.
And I'm close to getting the invitations printed so things are moving along and I'm excited about everyday ahead.

more later...and photos to come.

The cutest thing ever...

My favorite exihbit at the new GA aquarium was the river otters. Here's a sweet image:

This is the younger female otter napping and sucking on her paw as she naps. Apparently she keeps her paws warm this way while dozing. She was by far my favorite.

Beauty amidst Chaos

Complicated.
I find my life has become more complicated over the last few months. But I'm learning that complication and chaos becomes more possible the more I live outside my once safe cocoon.

Did I wish for this, did I in-fact pray for this? More complication?

Maybe chaos and complication are not what I hoped for but that my life would become more multi-faceted. That my world would stop revolving around just me. After all I've done the whole "Me" thing for a long time and I'm fun and all but- hey.

Lesson:
So amidst the chaos there is beauty and I have a better understanding of this now -

Jerk the Wheel

42-16057771

I've jerked the wheel.
I'm no longer on the same road I'd been traveling down for the past seven years.
The road is new and the sun's coming from a new direction. I'm not lost, just a new route.
And it's exciting. New landmarks, new roadtrip friends and a new destination.
Whoa. I'm gripping the wheel so hard and it's just started. Hang on.

So close, I cannot taste it.

Jeans

I'm almost there...only 5-10 more lbs. until I reach my weight loss goal I set back at the end of September. It feels nice to be close, and I'm enjoying the freedom I feel from not being so self conscious about my self. Not that I loathed my self 30 lbs heavier but it made me spend so much extra energy trying to convince my self that I was OK with the way I looked.

I've realized that shedding some weight rejuvenated my spirit and is allowing me to focus on so many other things besides food. For I was and will always be surrounded by food and great meals, but food does not have to run my life.

Life is lighter, I'm lighter and I am moving forward with a renewed focus and a smaller jean size.

It's been fun

P1010107

I'm writing this entry as therapy. I'm officially wrapping up the holidays by re-capping and moving forward. I've had tons of fun and good times doing anything but thinking about work.

Uhgh...work. I've been off from the office for 10 days and I've almost forgotten what responsibility is. But I digress, this post is about the fun I've had, not the work that lies ahead.

Holidays 2005
- Christmas parties, dinners and gatherings
- late nights with even later sleepy mornings with no rude alarm clock awakenings
- agenda-less days
- birthday parties
- reflections and celebrations on the past 30 years-full
- turkey, ham and cake
- New Years party
- redneck fireworks
- long walks
- seeing and hearing from new and old friends
- new clothes
- new toys

There's no way that a girl could ask for more. I've been blessed beyond what I deserve and I know that 2006 holds great times full of adventure.

How it all began...

VCH_003

Matthew 1 :18-25

18
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. 19Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

20But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,[c] because he will save his people from their sins."

22All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"[d]—which means, "God with us."

24When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

Infatuation

1 : to cause to be foolish : deprive of sound judgment
2 : to inspire with a foolish or extravagant love or admiration
- in·fat·u·a·tion /-"fa-ch&-'wA-sh&n/ noun

In my head, sound judgment is being tossed to the wind. Clear intelligent thoughts are clouded - no, absent, intelligence is absent in these thoughts. I have found my mind weighed and intrigued by an individual. A pleasant intellectual that is unaware that my thoughts drift towards them at any given time. I play with ideas of interaction. I allow my self to day dream and give into whimsical wishing.

What's best about him? Knowledge & faith. He's smart, keen.
- How attractive.

Also, he's thoughtful. Just listen to him talk about his Grandfather.
- There's untapped depth and respect.

He's well-traveled and adventurous.
- Even better.

But I grow tired of waiting.

Get a new post...

A direct quote from a friend and fellow blogger was "Get a new blog up - I'm tired of seeing Happy Punk'in day"

Well here's what's on my mind.

The Holidays.
Not just one, but all of them. I'm pumped. I'm ready.
Bring on the friends, family and fun. Screw 9 to 5.
Bring it.
Fa la la la la, la la la - la.
